Suqqu Creamy Glow Lipstick KARAKURENAI 唐紅花 is THE red lipstick that I have been searching for my whole life . I could write a lengthy post praising how beautiful this red is..not berry, not plummy, not orangey, just a perfect flaming scarlet red on me that took my breath away…but I believe pictures speak a thousand words.

Texture is the most luxurious you can get – opaque, creamy, lightweight and moisturizing. My bare lips have been looking quite dry lately, but with the Suqqu creamy glow lipstick on, there is no signs of dryness as you can see in these close up shots.

OVERALL LOOK:

Bottom Line: Everyone woman should have at least one or two red lipsticks, as it is an instant accessory that makes you feel sexier, put-together and more glamorous. If you are still hunting, get your hands on this one!

I can never get bored of lipsticks – no matter how many I own! My latest acquisition is the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine. I have heard some youtube gurus raving about them so I took the plunge. It was instant gratification from the first swipe on my lips – it’s just amazing. I just knew that both the formulation and the finish were made for my needs. All the shades from this range are beautiful yet wearable so I couldn’t help but pick up 4 of them.
Some people don’t like the Shu Uemura packaging, but I absolutely adore them. They are cute and elegant at the same time, and has a futuristic edge to it. Best of all I can see the lipstick shade without opening the cap!

They feel extremely hydrating on the lips and have a soft balmy texture, as soft as the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine. In terms of finish, they are semi-opaque with a glass-like shine. They all contain very fine particles of shimmer that gives a wet look without the frost.
Here are the swatch pictures (taken on a dull day!) – did my best to capture the true colors however I failed to capture the beautiful glossy sheen of these lipsticks as can be seen in real life…
Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine SS OR 520: A soft peach shade that is not too nude. Perfect for spring and summer and brightens up my NC15 complexion

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine SS BG 943: Best seller! A beige with a hint of brick brown undertone – it gives a very polished look which is very office appropriate.

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine SS PK 340 – A soft girly pink that gives a romantic and youthful look

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine SS BG 957: It’s a darker beige compared to BG 943 with a reddish undertone. My favorite shade out of all – I think it’s a sophisticated grown-up shade.

I certainly have an addition to lipsticks, or more specifically, sheer lipsticks. I just love the fact that they are fuss free – I can apply it without even looking into the mirror, and because they feel emollient and moisturising on the lips I can use them as a replacement for lip balm. If you are into the sheers like me, then Giorgio Armani’s Sheer lipstick range is worth checking out. I have recently got myself the Sheer Lipstick Rouge Transparent in 36 Sunset Pink from its 2011 Summer Heat Collection.

As usual, the packaging of Giorgio Armani is always understatedly chic. Although the tube is made of plastic, it has a frosted finish with some nice weight to it.
Since it’s a sheer lipstick, the bright red from the tube translates into a sheer coat of pink coral color with a translucent finish on my lips. The intensity is easily buildable. I swatched it with 3 swipes to achieve my desired finish. I like it as much as the Chanel Coco Rouge Shine – they both have a balmy and smooth texture without any shimmer in it while providing a veil of luminosity to the lips with the right amount of color.

Overall thought: What a nice range! It deserves more hype. I will certainly be looking into it further..:-P Actually I have already regretted that I didn’t buy the Sand Dune Beige #37 which was the shade on Megan Fox’s lips for the Summer Heat Campaign.

Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Lipstick in 102 is my most recent lipstick acquisition. It is a very close dupe of Rouge d’Armani in 105 which is my all time favorite lipstick and unfortunately it was released as limited edition.

In general the Rouge d’Armani lipstick line is fantastic. They have medium coverage, are moisturising, long lasting with a glossy finish – everything you ever want from a lipstick! My lips are really dry lately due to the miserable cold weather here and many lipsticks make my lips look even more dry and flaky. Rouge d’Armani is an exception because it layers on the lips in a silky veil that feels like a lip balm and doesn’t accentuate any dryness.
A closer look at 105 and 102.

Although 105 and 102 look pretty identical in the tubes, when swatched on the skin 105 is more beige whereas 102 has a more pink tone it.

I have previously reviewed 105 but I felt the pictures in my previous review didn’t do its justice. It looked so much better in real life so I’ve decided to take some better swatches of it as I have got a better camera now. It is a beautiful nudish beige with a glossy sheen.

Swatch of Rouge d’Armani in 102, slightly less beige if you pay very close attention to it.

Verdict: Although they are pretty similar my preference still goes towards 105. It just has this transparent sheen that makes my lips look really soft and delicate.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick has really captured my heart. I have gushed over how beautiful the shade of 06 Rose Bergamasque is – been wearing it almost every single day! I have recently discovered that Rouge Pur Couture in 10 Beige Tribute is another must have nude shade.
10 Beige Tribute and 06 Rose Bergamasque side by side

Swatches on my arm: please note they appear totally different to how they show up on the lips.

10 Beige Tribute swatched on my lips
Although Rose Bergamasque and Beige Tribute look very similar in real life from the tubes – Rose Bergamasque shows up as a peachy nude (reviewed here), whereas Beige Tribute is more of a flesh nude with a cool pink undertone in a satin finish.

Overall thoughts on YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks: Rouge pur couture is neither a full coverage lipstick nor a sheer one. This probably accounts for why I like their nude lipsticks so much. It conceals my natural lip color with just the right amount of pigmentation without looking too chalky and opaque. Staying power is about 2-3 hours, but I don’t mind re-applying it throughout the day because I like the soft and balmy texture of the lipsticks – they keep my lips soft and smooth. My only gripe is the fingerprints left on the packaging and it gets scratched very easily if you keep it in your purse.

As much as I love lipsticks, I do feel like a change sometimes. Nars Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil is a perfect alternative choice – it is a hybrid between lipstick and lipgloss. They add a luminous finish to the lips as a lipgloss but has the same silky smooth and soft texture as a lipstick. Thanks to the moisturizing formula that is enriched with vitamin E and A , they have been really helpful keeping my lips moist and hydrated in this cold weather. For those of you who live in Sydney, I am sure you know what I am talking about!
They come in 6 gorgeous shades. I picked up two shades I have been obsessed with the most lately:
Frivolous – iridescent seashell pink
Hopi – honey beige

Swatches on my hand:

On my lips:
Frivolous is very sheer, one swipe only leaves a subtle sheen to the lips. The pictures below were swatched with several swipes – so I get a soft and pale pink iridescent finish.

Hopi to me is a perfect wintery shade. I didn’t have to layer it as much as with Frivolous to get decent color payoff on my lips. I am pleased it shows up as a terracotta on my pigmented lips rather than beige.

I have a love and hate relationship with nude lipsticks. I don’t have the complexion or attitude to pull the color off – some are too beige; some are too cool toned; some make me look 10 years older and some make me look like I have lip liners around it. Does it stop me from buying them – Nope! I am still actively looking for The One and I believe YSL ROUGE PUR COUTURE in number 6 has ticked all my requirements.
My requirements are:
– moisturizing! doesn’t dry out my lips and accentuating my lip lines
– it is a few shades lighter than my natural lip color but doesn’t wash me out
– not too opaque, not too sheer
– not streaky, goes on evenly and no blending is required when applying
Rouge Pur Couture is a new line of lipsticks by YSL, the number 6 shade ‘Rose Bergamasque’ is part of their Spring 2011 Collection.

I personally love the gold packaging by YSL, it is sturdy and looks elegant, the only downside is it leaves finger print marks.

Some little details like the YSL embossing justifies the high price tag.

Swatches of YSL Rouge Pur Couture in 6 in daylight. It is a very wearable nude pink color on my naturally pigmented lips. If I want the color to look more beige I just need to conceal my lips with foundation. It goes on buttery smooth and even – no lip balm underneath is required. I can just apply and go. It feels soft and lightweight on my lips, and has a subtle sheen to its finish, making my lips look more plumped.

Have you tired YSL Rouge Pur Couture yet? What is your favorite nude lipstick? I am very interested to hear your recommendations.

I was in the shopping mood for more lipsticks today so I made a trip to my favorite department stores, fully tested out the latest sheer lipsticks that seem to be the IT lipstick of the moment- including the revamped Dior Addict Lipsticks; Mac Sheen Supreme Lipsticks ; Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Crystal Lipsticks. In the end I still went back to Chanel and picked up a few more Chanel Rouge Coco Shine! I just think they are the best sheer lipsticks in the market – the formulation is just unbeatable. For a sheer lipstick, the color payoff is excellent after a few swipes. The finish is moist; juicy and watery in a subtle and elegant way, not as wet as lipglosses.
I have previously reviewed and swatched Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in
– Boy; Chance and Evasion here
– Liberte and Aventure here

The 2 newest addition to my Rouge Coco Shine Family are:
– 42 BIARRITZ
– 50 RIVAGE

If I could only wear one shade of lipsticks for the rest of my life – it would be the “my-lips-but-better” shade. Rouge Coco Shine in 50 RIVAGE meets all my requirements – a muted pink shade that brightens up my complexion, makes me look more healthy; energetic and youthful.

Chanel Rouge Coco in Biarritz is my first “fall lipstick” for this year. It looks more brown in the tube than how it translates on to my lips. The sheer formulation gives a soft caramel brown finish. I have a feeling I will reach for this lipstick the most in the next few months.
