THREE Flash Performance Pencil Eyeliners Review and Swatches

November 4, 2012

There are a lot of Japanese exclusive makeup that tempt me, but I have been strictly following the golden rule of “out-of-sight, out-of-mind” as there are just too many other good things that are more accessible – until I read the review of  THREE Flash Performance Pencil Eyeliners on Kate’s blog. She described these as the eyeliner equivalent of the Suqqu creamy glow lipsticks, and I was immediately sold by that as they are also my HG lipsticks!

THREE-Flash-Performance-Pencil-Eyeliners-01-05-review-swatchesTHREE-Flash-Performance-Pencil-Eyeliners-01-05-review-swatches-1The THREE Pencil Eyeliners totally lived up to my expectations. Texture wise – they are the silkiest, creamiest and most buttery pencil eye liners I have ever used.  They feel the same as Suqqu lipstick that has a melt-into-your-skin texture when applying. The most wonderful thing about them is that they do not budge at all. Even when I tried to scrub them off forcefully, hardly any came off.

They offer a reasonably wide selection of colors and I picked the two safest colors.

Shade 01 is a muted rosy beige color with silver shimmer. It is highly pigmented and I mainly use it for my lower lash lines. The color adds a nice touch of rosy sheen to my eyes with a beautiful gleam.

Shade 05 is the most gorgeous and complex olive-green black with multi-colored shimmer that has a duochrome effect on the eyes. It makes a great alternative to the usual pure black and it looks unbelievable when the shimmer is reflected under the sun.

Bottom Line: The most amazing eyeliners that completely blow the other high to low end eyeliner pencils out of the water.

Out of topic: My friend posted them to me from Japan by EMS. I paid about $15 for a small package with about 6 beauty products and it reached Australia within 2 days. So I highly recommend EMS for an affordable and express courier!

These look so pretty. I like the all black feel to them. Makes them feel very luxurious. The copper colour is so pretty.

Thanks for the great review. I really need these pencils now. I found them here:
But with total shipping costs, it’s really quite pricey!

HI Reika,

How does #1 compared to Chanel’s stylo yeux eyeliner in Rose Platine?? Rose Platine is my favorite eyeliner for my lower lashline at the inner corner… I should have picked up a back up….. sigh.

i’ve never heard of ‘three’ .. but you sold me at ‘most buttery pencil eye liners ..’ – must google them now! thanks for sharing =)

The number 5 is a bestseller in Japan, I have had it for quite sometime but do not use it often as it somehow slides on my contacts. And it is a real pain… The eyeshadows and the pigments from Three by Rie Okamoto are interesting too. If you read Japanese it is very easy to order them from Isetan online (they carry Suqqu, Addiction, Three among other brands) via Normally, Tenso forwards the parcel to me to HK in one day.

Reika November 7, 2012 at 12:24 pm

OMG..thank you so much for the info!!! Highly appreciate that! I am going to place an order through tenso out very soon 🙂 I hope it’s not too complicated 😛

Maryana November 7, 2012 at 1:40 pm

No problem, honey! Enjoy. I have just ordered ltd new year collections through them( addiction, suqqu and three, was something else too, forgot what was it) Isetan online carries good skincare too. Check out Dr K, I swear by his toner. All Japanese make up insiders are raving about it.

I want some of these liners, but I am afraid I don’t know anyone in Japan who can provide me with a hook-up. Sad face…

Reika November 7, 2012 at 12:23 pm

I know your’s so difficult to get these makeup from Japan!

Lacy Bradford November 7, 2012 at 6:14 pm

Reika, I love reading your blog it makes me want to shop even more! I have ordered the Suqqu creamy lipstick in #4, also the THREE eyeline in #05 on ICHIBANKAO. I will let you know how both go, I am very excited and I love your makeup choices so I hope I love these as well!

Rola November 11, 2012 at 7:27 pm

Lovely! I totally know what you mean about the “out-of sight-out-of-mind” thing! The only Japanese makeup brand I’ve tried is Lunasol which has been lovely, I really like their Fall 2012 collection palette in Mauve Pink, so pretty. I want to try Addiction, Suqqu and now Three… hmm some day! 😉

Reika November 15, 2012 at 12:50 am

Oh god..don’t get me start on lunasol..I LOVE their latest e/s palettes – sooo goregous! Likewise, I want more Suqqu..addiction..and Three!!
