SKII

I go through tons of skincare products and there is only a handful of products that I will repurchase. The SKII Treatment Essence is one of them and I have been using it on and off for years. Lately I am trialing the SUISSE PROGRAMME Cellular Boosting Solution. It is a relatively new product and is being marketed as an all purpose lightweight essence and costs the same as SKII. It gained its popularity quickly and has been receiving great feedback so it’s definitely giving the SKII’s treatment essence a run for its  money.

SKII Treatment Essence

This product has been featured in numerous magazines and beauty blogs, so I don’t want to do another detailed review to bore you. Basically it is an essence in water consistency. It can be used as a toner, or serum or a step in between. It contains 98% of SKII’s signature ingredient – Pitera. Although there has been some controversy on the effect of Pitera, this product has been around in the market for over 80 years and remains one of the best selling products. So to me it’s the consumers feedback that counts more . Of course I personally have experienced a great result with this product. It is moderately hydrating for my skin type, and best of all it soothes and calms my skin and does a wonderful job for regulating oils and improving clarity. I reach for this product religiously whenever my skin feels sensitive or suffering from breakouts.

From the negative reviews I have read, this product doesn’t fade pigmentation and diminish the appearance of wrinkles. I agree, however it is not a miracle anti aging product that will turn back the clock. I was told it is best to start using this product from the age of 25 as it preserves the current state of your skin and delays the aging process. I started using this when I was 20 and I have not seen any visible signs of aging on my skin yet.

SUISSE PROGRAMME Cellular Boosting Solution (130ml)

Obviously it is a swiss brand and this is one of the best selling products. I expected a lot from this product as it’s been receiving rave reviews.

A little overview on this brand and the product:

SUISSE PROGRAMME Celluar Skin Care is a highly effective skin treatment program resulting from the reputable Swiss cosmetic traditions. It has developed an exclusive Biodynmaic Celluar Complex (BCC) containing active biomolecules capable of acting synergically on the celluar respiration or oxygen consumption within the human cells. The BCC increases the skin regeneration processes and improves skin vitality. This exclusive complex of active ingredients restores skin radiance and reinforces the natural moisturizing action.

SUISSE PROGRAMME Cellular Boosting Solution is a multi-active treatment boosts the transformative effects of daily skincare. It combines the power and effectiveness of three high-tech formulas to help banish signs of skin fatigue and dullness to give you a smooth, radiant and luminous complexion. This high-function solution is designed as a 24 hour effective treatment to counteract signs of premature ageing, preparing the skin to receive and boost the benefits of other skincare treatment.

My Thoughts:

Unlike the SKII Treatment essence, the Suisse Programme Cellular Boosting Solution has a serum consistency. It is very hydrating yet lightweight, feels even more hydrating than my regular serum. Since it comes in a big bottle I apply this liberally every morning and evening, and this sensation is amazing – it makes me feel I am drenched in serum! As the consistency is thicker than the regular toner, it takes about half a minute to completely absorb into the skin. The result is immediate and my complexion appears instantly more even-toned and plumped. I feel I can certainly live without other serums and moisturizers as this product alone keeps my skin hydrated and soft all day long. This product also claims that it boosts the benefits of other skincare treatments. I agree because when I use this product together with my regular serum and moisturizer, I felt my skin is over hydrated! My only gripe with this product is that it contains alcohol.

Bottom Line: The Suisse Programme Cellular Boosting Solution certainly lives up to my expectation. I can’t say which one I prefer more as they are for different needs. The SKII keeps my skin calm and soothed and reduces the breakout to minimum, whereas the Suissie Programme is more potent in terms of hydration and anti-aging but can be too nutritional for younger skin. I will repurchase both of them.

I bought my SKII Treatment Essence at the Singapore airport dutyfree, it was USD$120 for a150ml bottle.

SUISSE PROGRAMME Cellular Boosting Solution (130ml) retails for USD$100. I bought mine from sasa.com

This is a long overdue post as I have been requested to do a rundown on my daily skincare routine many times. Well the reason I’ve been procrastinating was because I had no idea where to begin! Between makeup and skincare, I am probably more passionate about skincare although I don’t talk much about it on this blog as often as makeup. I shop and go through lots of products every month. My approach is quite open-minded so I’m always open to try new things – I am not one of those girls who thoroughly check the ingredients before making a purchase. As long as I think the product will work for my skin type I’m always happy to give it a go.

Just some background information before I embark on my skincare routine. My skin is oily on the surface and dehydrated inside. If it is not well hydrated my makeup would appear just sitting on top of my skin whilst it still produces a lot of oil throughout the day. I also have pigmentation (freckles) across my cheeks. Other than that, I don’t have wrinkles, fine lines, and no signs of loss of firmness. My main goal is to keep my skin looking and feeling fresh, supple, moisturized, firm and plumped with no visible appearance of pores.

These are the products I have been using everyday for the past 2 months. Some of these are my holy grails, some of these are new products I have been trialing through, and I like the results so I have incorporated them into my daily regime. I tend to go for products that are gentle, lightweight and hydrating with some anti-aging benefits. Anything that is too rich and oily will cause congestion or even break-outs to my skin.

As you can see I am not loyal to any brands haha..I generally prefer high end brands for basic skincare but I also have a love for Asian drugstore brands for masks (I have tons of them!).

My Morning Routine:

I clean my face with Elemis Rehydarting Rosepetal Cleanser, then I apply SK II Facial Treatment Essence generously on my face, and pat my face till it absorbs. SK II Aqua Physics Serum is full of pitera and hyaluronic acid which keeps my skin supple and hydrated all day. Finish with Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Moisturising Gel. (probably the best product out of the entire white lucent range)

For my eyes I like to use La Prairie Cellular Revitalizing Eye Gel – have gone through tons of anti-puffiness eye gels and this is the only one that really works!

My Evening Routine:

I remove my makeup with the Eve Lom Cleanser with its muslin cloth – my HG cleanser, then apply the SK II Facial Treatment Essence liberally again. Serum is an essential item in my skincare routine – at the moment I am using the Trilogy Age Proof  Nutrient Plus Firming Serum and the CQ10 Booster Serum interchangeably.  Trilogy is one of my favorite organic skincare lines that is based in New Zealand. If you are into natural skincare I highly recommend giving them a go as they are affordable and really deliver what they claim to. Moisturizer is switched to the Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion W – it’s designed for nightime so the texture is slighter richer than the gel version.

I also use a different eye cream at night time – the Shiseido Bio Performance Super Eye Contour Cream keeps the fine lines at bay without being too nutritional for my age so it doesn’t cause any milia. Don’t forget to take care of the neck girls! I am using the Shiseido Benefiance Concentrated Neck Contour Treatment.

That’s it for my basic skincare. I use more products as special treatments throughout the week so there will be part 2, part 3….

After a long day of stressful work, when I am still in the mood to take a picture of myself smiling genuinely..that means I am in lurvvv..with SKII Cellumination Mask-IN Lotion.

It all began from last week, I was flicking through the latest issue of Marie Claire. This product featured in their beauty section just totally caught my attention.

SKII-Cellumination-Mask-IN-Lotion-review

Their description:

GET GLOWING – gives the intense radiance benefits of a face mask, minus the fuss. Simply smooth it on under your moisturizer daily for an instant pick-me-up.

If you ask any makeup artists, I am sure 9 out 10  would suggest you to use the SKII treatment mask before the big events to prep the skin– it just makes a huge difference to your makeup. Pat McGrath always uses the SKII treatment masks on models at every fashion show she does. They are extremely pricey though, $125 for 5 sheets! This product – SKII Cellumination Mask-IN Lotion, seems like a cheaper alternative that allows me to achieve a similar result.

There is no better time to test this product than now. Lately, my skin is getting dryer as the weather is getting cooler. I noticed my makeup appears to be sitting on top of my skin regardless of what products I use. I have been using this product religiously every morning before my toner, and it has totally addressed my skin concerns.. It gives me a radiant complexion by taking away the dullness, dryness and flakiness. I find any moisturizer I use afterwards absorbs into my skin better, and any foundation I use blends in beautifully like my second skin – exactly the same effect as if I just had a mask.

Just for your information, this product retails for $120 in Australia, about the same price as a box of SKII Treatment Masks but you can get much more use out of it.
