The second part of my holiday diary (part 1 here) is all about fashion and food – basically two of my biggest hobbies after beauty. I have included my recommendations for some really good restaurants that I had dined in Phuket, and of course some snaps of the new resort wear I added recently.
Shopping for resort wear is always my favorite activity to do as part of holiday planning. The anticipation of going on holiday soon as well as having a valid excuse for buying more beautiful dresses always excites me. This holiday, I added another dress from my go-to brand Zimmermann. She does the most romantic and floral dresses with a boho spin, such as this off-the shoulder dress I picked. Also loving this top in the same print.

Camilla is the iconic high end Australian beachwear label that is stocked in most premium online retailers. Their signature bold prints in silk dresses and kaftans are over the top and dramatic, and goes well with your vacation on an exotic island! The pictures online do not do it justice, as they are so delicate, flowy and looks very expensive in real life. Most of her designs can be worn in multiple ways, and this beautiful Frill Dress I picked (also available here and here in a different print) can be worn off shoulder, one shoulder, or over the shoulders. Again I love anything with a dramatic take on the sleeves this season.

There were two restaurants inside Trisara, The Thai seafood restaurant served authentic Phuket styled Thai food. I dined there twice, and overall the food was great (but did not blow me away as I have very high standards for Thai food) with a lovely posh ambiance, and the service was always top notch. Trisara had another restaurant with a selection of world food over the deck area. The vibe was more relaxing, beachy, and casual with a beautiful ocean view during the day. I really enjoyed dining there as they had lots of choices for western food such as my favorite lobster sandwiches.
Every Sunday, Trisara would host their Sunday brunch which was very famous in Phuket. It was more like a premium seafood buffet that looked amazing. The brunch was extremely popular and normally booked out days in advance, and was open to public.
Some restaurants in Phuket that I highly recommend:
- Bann Rim Pa – It serves high-end royal Thai food. I found the food style was quite different to the traditional Thai food. Overall the food was lovely, and it was interesting to experience what the Thai royals ate! The place is located oceanfront with a beautiful 180 ocean view, and is tastefully decorated.
- Bampot – One of my favorite places in Phuket. European and Asian Fusion food with a modern open kitchen design.
- Siam Supper Club – Another chic place to dine in Phuket. Love the old style New York deco, with soothing Jazz music in the background. If you are bored of Thai food, this is the place to go for some authentic grill and pizzas, and they also had some popular Thai dishes.
- Raya – I had the best dinner ever! It’s the place where Thai prime ministers and celebrities go to for the most authentic thai food. The place looked very run-down but was purposely decorated to look vintage. It is located in the old town which was an interesting place to visit in Phuket other than the beaches. Apparently the food was so good that lots of wealthy people in Bangkok would fly their PAs down to Phuket just to buy the takeaways! Highly recommend.
Rag and Bone is definitely my go-to fashion brand each season, as I find their styles are classic, wearable yet with a cool and modern edge that is right on point. Currently obsessed with this ultra cool quilted black bomber jacket made with satin twill. It is slightly oversized but not too much, and the black and white pinstripe trims add a sporty spin to it. It goes perfect with your favorite jeans and sneakers, or you can go sexy wearing a tight dress inside the jacket. It is selling out fast, and there are a few other similar but budget-friendly pieces for under $150 including this one and this one!

Mix/Match or Dress? I am definitely a dress girl for the rushed mornings! Every season I’d like to add a few timeless pieces into my closet. My favorite go-to dress lately is this military inspired SMYTHE Tunic Dress, I love the effortless vibe of this dress – anything that makes me look like I haven’t tried too hard is a winner for me. It is such a versatile dress that I have worn in warm days with a pair of tanned colored sandals (as styled here and here), as well as in the colder days with a pair of booties. In this OOTD, I had the Stuart Weitzman Mitten booties on (the most comfortable booties I have ever owned!), and it also looks great with thigh high suede booties. As with all SMYTHE clothing, the fabric is beautiful – it’s neither too thin or nor too stiff. The lace up collar adds an updated fashion spin to this simple dress.
Dress – SMYTHE
Bag – Hermes Constance Etain
Shoes – Stuart Weitzman Mitten color Anthracite (bought here, there are other colors in black, tan and beige available here and here)
Shades – Karen Walker in black

I haven’t been that excited with new season’s fashion for a while, as I am fully embracing the retro trend from the 70s with flares making a huge comeback. Favorite collection so far is the Zimmerman’s 2016 collection including this paisley necklet top in this OOTD. As much as I try to add ‘non monochrome’ pieces into my closet, finding a perfect floral top has always been a challenge for me that doesn’t look overly cute, nor too matronly. This top updated with a neck tie and bell sleeves is right on point and tres chic. Pairing it with a cropped wide leg pant, and my go-to Valentino rockstud pump in Noir that literally goes with everything!
Sunglasses – Tom Ford (available here)
Top – Zimmerman (bought here)
Pants – Tibi (currently 30% off here!, also available here)

Shopbop is having its annual Family and Friends Sale now with code INTHEFAM for 25% off on full price and sale items (3 days only). It’s always delightful news for people who like stocking up new styles like me! This year there is a major update in the silhouette for the classic items such as Jeans and tops, and my fashion goal to add a few pieces that are on trend for this season. Currently obsessed with anything with flares and frays. I put together some pieces from Shopbop that I am having a major crush over – especially the pictured 3×1 cropped denim with raw hems and a small flare – tres chic! Mules and saddle bags are the accessories to go for this season.

The job of finding a new piece of perfect resort wear before you go on a vacation is always tough. I always have the dilemma of “should I go all bold, or should I stay simple and minimalist”. After being on the lookout for several weeks, I finally decided on this beautiful intricately made Snowflake Lace Top from the SEA Resort 2016 collection. It’s young, fresh and romantic and I love the fact that the style is also versatile enough to be worn on an everyday basis.

Shoes – Tory Burch (bought here, also available here)

Aquazurra is taking the fashion world by storm over the past few years, and is certainly setting himself as a shoe trend setter who is also becoming my favorite shoe brand to collect. I own several pairs of them (see my post here and here), and my newest addition is the iconic Sexy Thing Suede Sandals in nude color (finally!). I love their shoes – they are sexy and young with a chic edge to it (not the usual boring pumps), and are comfortable for heels as they are very lightweight yet sturdy.
This style is the most classic from Aquazurra, and it comes in a rainbow of colors as well as different heights of heels (love this gray pair as well!). Most of their sandals can also be worn as cut-out booties, so they make great transitional pieces to wear into the winter. If I make an investment on shoes, they always have to be work appropriate but also great for styling with causal (off duty) wears and this pair ticks all the checkboxes!
Maje khaki suede skirt (on sale here in Australia)
Saint Laurent Bag (bought here)
Aquazurra shoes are currently the cheapest on NAP for shipping to Australia but they have limited colors. I bought mine here for the 10cm heel, and they are also on Neiman Marcus in the US.
Shopbop has started its major sales event with up to 25% off across the entire store including the sales items with code GOBIG15! I’d thought I’d share some of my favorite pieces from my closet that I previously purchased from them. This season every girl should own a button front skirt, and I managed to find a very affordable piece from the brand WAYF for less than $100. It’s made of faux suede and looks just as good as the more expensive ones. I love it pair it up with a timeless fitted v neck tee to give an effortless sexy vibe. And you can never go wrong with a floppy brim hat and a pair of booties with hardware details this fall.
