Suqqu Lipsticks Reviews and Swatches – Creamy Glow and Creamy Glow Moist

May 1, 2013

Long time readers would know that Suqqu Creamy Glow are my holy grail lipsticks. Knowing that they will be discontinued soon and replaced by a new range, I went into panic mode and ordered some more shades to complete my collection. I currently own shades 01, 10, 18, and my newest additions include 03 TSUYAZAKURA, 05 SUZUMECHA, and 11 SHAREGAKI.  Picking a lip color from Suqqu is a no-brainer, as it’s such a classic beauty brand with mainly a neutral color palette designed for everyday wear. In addition to the Creamy Glow, I have also bought a lipstick from the Creamy Glow Moist range which is their newer release. Unfortunately I don’t find the texture and finish as amazing as the original creamy glow, so I am very glad with my purchase of these backups just in case the coming range doesn’t live up to my expectations!

To recap, the Suqqu Creamy Glow lipsticks have the most amazing texture. They are very rich in pigment, yet retain some translucency when applied so it makes your lips appear so moist and youthful. The texture is buttery soft and glides on like weightless silk, and it has enough slip so the product won’t get caught between the dry lines or skin. It also doesn’t bleed with a superb lasting power. There is not a single flaw I can pick! Click here and here for the full reviews and swatches of 01, 10 and 18.

However, the Suqqu Creamy Glow Moist is not as fantastic. The texture is noticeably thicker and more balmy so it feels quite heavy on the lips (like some balmy lip balms). It is slightly more sheer (which doesn’t bother me) but I don’t find the formula is as moisturizing.

Reviews and Swatches of Creamy glow 03 TSUYAZAKURA, 05 SUZUMECHA, 11 SHAREGAKI and Creamy Glow Moist 01 HARUOTO

Suqqu Creamy Glow 03 TSUYAZAKURA – a beautiful neutral pink. Compared to 01 SAEBANA, it is slightly rosier, and has a warmer pink tone so it is more suitable for a wider range of skintone.

I have also compiled all the swatches (except 18 KARAKURENAI) into one picture so it is easier for you to compare the differences in the undertone.

Ok, how did I not know about Suqqu being sold at Selfridges? The UK is not that far from here so that’s kinda awesome news to me ^^. I really love 01 and 03 on you, those are definitely my favourites. It’s always a bit of a leap of faith when a brand decides to reformulate one of their products. It can go wrong or it can be awesome altho I find it mostly to be the first one in my experience.

Thank you so such for those swatches! They’re so helpful since I have to buy them unseen.
I didn’t know that they are goning to be discontinued! WHAT?!

I have a question regarding the THREE eyeliners:
Do that contain any glitter particles (like the Lancome Jazzy Taupe)?

Thank you so much!
Ina

Hi Ina, the three eyeliner contains very particles of glitter which gives a shimmery finish, but it glides on ultra smoothly (not gritty), and there is no fall out.

Your previous reviews introduced me to Suqqu eye shadows and Tom Ford highlight/shade/powder which I now use every day! I’m definitely gonna check out Suqqu lipsticks before they get discontinued.

Hi Reika

Can you give a brief comparison on the texture between the Suqqu lipstick and the YSL ROUGE VOLUPTÉ? YSL RV is my holy grail because they are so creamy, smooth and pigmented but I want to hear what you think about their comparison. I have a friend going to Japan soon and do you know how much the Suqqu lipsticks are sold in Japan?

Thanks much for such a thorough review and I love #1 and #3 on you totally!!

Cheers
Lisa

Hi Lisa, Suqqu Creamy glow and YSL RV have a similar texture as they are both ultra smooth and buttery soft. But I find YSL RV applies a little streaky and sits on top of the lips, whereas the Suqqu melts into the lips that completely camouflage any dry lines.
I think it retails for around USD$45 in Japan…but you should double check with your friend :)

I adore Suqqu for their phenomenal textures so much, I have some of the lipsticks you showed and am so glad I got them. I agree with you, what you said about the moist lipsticks, I think they just do not compare to the original ones. Sadly, Suqqu is going to reformulate their creamy glows and I have no idea what they will come up with :( karakurenai, ichijiku and saebana are my favourite colours. Beautiful pictures Reika and very helpful xxx

Your blog is an amazing resource for Suqqu items! I was trying to decide between 01 and 03. Looking at your pictures 01 might not work for me. They all look great on you! :)

Hi Reika, I ended up getting SUQQU creamy glow lipstick from Selfridges today. I’m just sooo curious on how it feels. I ordered no.3. I wanted to get no.3 & 11 as well, but they were sold out at selfridges. Can you recommend other similar color in the range? I was thinking to get no.6 or 9, but thought maybe it can be a too bright?? thanks Reika
