I have been using the Suqqu 01 KAKITSUBATA 杜若 and the Suqqu 03 MATSUKASA 松球 interchangeably in the past few weeks, the weather has been looking sad and gloomy so I haven’t had a chance to take FOTDs for you… so I might as well share my thoughts and some swatches with you today.
Suqqu Blend Eye Color Palettes are one of the most expensive palettes I own. I bought them in UK currency and I believe they retail more than Chanel quads and Dior quints but less than Tom Fords. So are they worth the high price tag? That’s a YES in my opinion. The high quality of Suqqu eye shadows is reflected in every aspect – from the ultra sleek, expensive looking but understated packaging, to the enclosed brushes that are made of 70% squirrel hair.
Unlike MAC that has a large customer base from students to the makeup pros, Suqqu is a brand that is targeting at a specific group of customers – women who are confident and love to wear makeup to enhance what they have, rather than having fun and being playful with makeup. Their color selections are very neutral hence office appropriate.
First Quad is the Suqqu 01 KAKITSUBATA 杜若 – this is one of their best sellers and is featured in Suqqu advertising campaigns.
All Suqqu Blend Eye Color Palettes contain two shimmery shades (top row) and two matte shades (bottom row). The shimmer shades last about 8 hours on me without creasing, and the matte shade last about the same time but starts to fade after about 4-5 hours of wear. They impart a silky veil of colors to the eyes – nothing dramatic but elegant and poised. Applying them using my Suqqu eye brushes is enigmatically pleasant.
A closer look at the eye shadows:

Suqqu’s shimmery shades are second to none, because the finish is the finest sheen you can get from the market and they stay intact for the whole day. All my swatches are taken very close up therefore you can see the lines. In actual fact they give younger looking eyes in real life as the eye shadows are extremely finely milled so they smooth out the imperfections.

Yep, I’m in love with both! I did another Suqqu look for tomorrow’s FOTD, with an older palette, but I still love ALL my Suqqu eye palettes!
You know I am really jealous of you with the amount of suqqu makeup you own right?! :p
Great can’t wait to check out your post, I love looking at your suqqu fotds!
I am jealous of BOTH of you with the collection of SUQQU products! These palettes are beautiful.. I can actually see the high quality of them through the swatches!
Wow! That is really impressive. The shimmer looks almost magical!
Every time I see a Suqqu palette, I immediately think of understated elegance and a woman who is confident in her beauty. These two palettes exemplify that image. I look forward to seeing how you use them in an FOTD.
I’m curious to see how you will wear Kakitsubata, since the blue shade would be something I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with. Can’t wait to see your FOTD!
Thanks for the swatches!
Both palettes are so beautiful. I’m quite tempted to get 01 Kakitsubata just because I think the color combination is so unique. But then, I must admit, I always kinda neglect palettes with blue shadows.
Please convince me that 01 Kakitsubata is a MUST-GET!
Can’t wait for your FOTDs, Reika!
I love the rich warm chocolate browns in Matsukasa. So gorgeous! Can’t wait to see you do some looks with these.
Matsukasa is beautiful; I’m going to have to get ahold of it somehow. As for Kakitsubata, I’m curious, does the blue shadow have any purple at all in it? Thanks in advance! Your blog is a delight to read.
Hi Leigh, the blue shadow is quite a neutral blue, neither navy nor purple.
Hi! I’ve been following your blog for a long time but have never commented, I really enjoy stopping by to look at great photographs and product reviews. I am *this close* to surrendering to a massive Suqqu order!!! I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve put stuff in my shopping cart and then reluctantly emptied it!
It’s great to see these reviews as these are exactly the kind of colors I would gravitate towards myself! Really looking forward to your FOTD’s.
Hope you have a great week ahead!
Hi Lakshmi you comment is so heartwarming..I am so touched and thank you so much
Lol I was the exactly the same, I had also “practiced” countless Suqqu orders online but in the end I was lucky enough to have my mum get Suqqu from London as they are “reasonably priced” there compared to Japan!
#1 looks gorgeous! Can’t wait for your FOTD with this one. How are the enclosed applicators? Are they of a better aka usable quality than most?
The enclosed applicator are of the best quality you could ever get for mini sized – very sturdy and the brush is made of 70% squirrel hair and 30% goat hair, so the hair is much softer than other mainstream brushes
They both look stunning and are very much shades I would go for. I do really like their shadow texture, its very light and I can’t think of a brand that is similar. Thanks for the enabling post
Suqqu is definitely one of my favorite, if not my favorite Asian cosmetics brand. I only have two palettes and a handful of single shadows, but despite the heavy price tag, their quality is seriously superb. I always get excited whenever someone reviews their products because it’s not easily accessible to me, so I was quite happy when you posted this. I love the Kakitsubata palette! It’s so beautiful! Looking forward to more posts!

Oh god, I’m going to need this aren’t I. Love the fact that the applicators look like you could actually use them – I always throw the enclosed ones out and then I have to lug 4 huge brushes with me when I go away for the weekend.
I love their palette! Perfect for office wear!!! And I love the sleek packaging!!!

I recently ordered 01,03 and 06 eyeshadow palette as well. Can’t wait to see your FOTD with these amazing eyeshadows.
I just made my first Suqqu order of the 02 palette and 2 lipsticks. Your blog has been such a great resource for me so thank you for the lovely swatches and descriptions! Thank goodness I found you through Sabrina [The Beauty Look Book]
Thank you so much for the sweet comment Rae. I hope you will like the suqqu as much as I do
