Nars Larger Than Life Lip Gloss Pirée Review and Swatch

November 29, 2011

I spotted the new Nars Larger Than Life Lip gloss at Sephora . It is probably one the most interesting new collections by Nars for me lately, as for some reason both the fall collection and the holiday collection just didn’t intrigue me as much as before. At the moment the new lip glosses are only exclusive to Sephora..hopefully they will soon be available at other stores,  so if your country doesn’t have Sephora (I mean Australia!) it’s just going to be a matter of time.

I bought the shade Pirée. There are also a few other interesting shades but I am trying to be more selective, so I only picked one shade which looked the best on me upon testing . Pirée is a gorgeous “your-lips-but-much-much-better” shade, as it is almost the same color as my lips but slightly nudish.  The color is not as intense as the rest of the shades in the collection – it goes on semi-sheer with a wet glossy finish, and has no shimmers. The formulation is lovely as well – smooth, lightweight and non sticky. Compared to the old Nars gloss I would say the new gloss offers a richer color and a higher impact shine.

As you can see, the new Larger Than Life Lip gloss comes with a tiny brush applicator for precise application. To be honest I am not very fond of this new design, as I have full lips and it just takes more effort to apply lip gloss with this extra small brush.

Bottom Line: A lovely new line of lip glosses delivered by Nars. If you are into new makeup, definitely worth to have them checked out.

I’ve been on a roll with NARS lately, especially their lipsticks and foundations!

Hello! Please, which eyeshadow are you wearing in this post? That taupe is so gorgeous!

Hi Virginia, I primed my lid with the GA ETK 08 first then I applied the Becca Lost Weekend e/s palette over.
Hope it helps.

I was going to ask the same question as well! 🙂 thanks Reika ! did you use all three shades in the Becca palette ?

Jess November 30, 2011 at 3:01 am

Yes, you have full lips that are to die for, Reika!! They are perfectly shaped! And also yes to ‘your lips but much much better’ shade! 😉

Reika November 30, 2011 at 12:56 pm

Hehe thanks Jess!

This is a very helpful review! I’ve been considering Chihuahua recently— but I’ll be sure to check out Piree as well. I haven’t had the chance to tinker with the larger than life gloss display yet!

I love Chihuahua, you have to get it Dovey! It’s one of my favorite Nars lip glosses. Knowing you like neutrals I am sure you will like either of these 🙂

It looks lovely on you as usual! I like Nars glosses but hate the smell – do these smell the same?

Reika November 30, 2011 at 12:59 pm

No the new one doen’t smell! Me too I love the finish of Nars gloss, it gives a baby like lips 🙂

Thank goodness these don’t smell! I bought Chihuahua and chucked it out because I couldn’t stand the smell! Thanks for your comment, YES I have Bluebell, too, that was my favourite before I discovered Orange Blossom! I like them all, though.

Hi Reika, how does this compare to Chanel rouge allure extrait de gloss in terms of coverage, moisturizing effect, how comfortable it is, etc…? I love the Chanels but this Nars shade seems very lovely.

Reika December 5, 2011 at 12:25 pm

They are very similar in terms of coverage and moisturizing effect, but the Nars larger than life gloss gives a more wet finish. I can only speak for Piree though, as I found the lighter shades were a little streaky for me at the time I swatched them.

Beautiful natural-looking shade and the new formulation sounds like sth to check out! 🙂

What silver or white e/s are you wearing in the photo?
