Meet My New Everyday Bag

March 6, 2012

I buy myself a new everyday bag  every start of the year, and my requirements for it have to be

– black

– roomy

– I can carry it either over my shoulder or with my elbow

– understated – no logo everywhere

– last but not least, it has to be light!

And I have finally found a lovely soft and slouchy grey-black Chanel Tote which is everything of what I am after! It has a distressed leather finish (similar finish as the classic reissue line)- so it looks quite worn already (in my mum’s opinion!) which means I can toss it around everywhere without worrying…The logo is very understated, but the signature Chanel Chain around the bag provides a sense of reassurance.

I love it! It’s perfect.

Cindy March 6, 2012 at 1:27 pm

Gorgeous! May I ask where you purchased it from? I would love to buy my first Chanel 🙂

Reika March 11, 2012 at 1:01 pm

Hi Cindy I bought it from a Chanel boutique. Good luck with your first Chanel purchase!

Classic and beautiful, you can’t go wrong with Chanel.

Lovely bag, really, but I’m not sure what you mean by:

“The logo is very understated, but the signature Chanel Chain around the bag provides a sense of reassurance.”

Provides a sense of reassurance of what? That people will still recognize the brand?

Reika March 11, 2012 at 1:08 pm

Lol..I meant that at least I think the bag is still looking Chanel-ish with the signature chain around it though most ppl won’t recognize it 🙂

Lovely bag! Does it come in any other colors? Do you find that the straps dig into your shoulder or does it rest comfortably? Thanks!

Reika March 11, 2012 at 1:10 pm

I think it only comes in this color. No the strap metal doesn’t dig in as the leather is interwoven with it 🙂

Dina March 6, 2012 at 5:10 pm

Congrats such a beauty

Yoannah March 7, 2012 at 1:13 am

So chic and classy!

Goddesslily March 7, 2012 at 1:33 am

I love that bag… wish I could afford it!

Jess March 7, 2012 at 3:13 am

… stunningly beautiful! You must have an amazing handbag collection – classy, sophisticated and oh so chic! You totally should do a handbag collection post for us! 😉

Is this a limited edition one, or is it available from the permanent Chanel lineup? Currently, I’m aiming at purchasing a Chanel Classic Flap (I think it’s going to be a Jumbo one in black Caviar leather with gold hardware – what do you think, Reika?) and a Prada Saffiano Lux Tote in black. So, I seriously need to limit myself with buying any more makeup for quite a while! :/

I’m looking forward to seeing you wearing this beautiful bag in one of your outfit posts! 🙂

Reika March 11, 2012 at 1:18 pm

Thanks Jess.. one day I might do a handbag collection post 🙂
Yes it was a limited edition. You can never go wrong with the chanel classic flap Jess! Between caviar and lambskin, I prefer lambskin for its look but caviar for its durability, so it depends on how much you are going to use this bag.
I have the Prada Saffiano Tote in black as well! It’s a very chic and practical bag, the only downside is that it’s quite heavy.
Lol..I tell myself to buy less makeup/skincare so I can have more funds for fashion items, but it fails every time I see a new collection!

Jess March 13, 2012 at 7:38 pm

Yes, the Lambskin looks very noble indeed, but I actually prefer the Caviar for it looks a tad more ‘casual’ so that I could wear it as a daytime bag with my usual outfit. I think that the Lambskin looks the best with more elegant and feminine outfits, which is not the typical style of mine. 🙂

Tell me about it, Reika! I totally fail as well when it comes to spotting a new makeup collection… Ugh…

Joslynn March 7, 2012 at 4:08 am

Like Cindy, just wondering where you buy your Chanel bags from? Are they not marked-up in Australia? Thanks!

Reika March 11, 2012 at 1:21 pm

Hi Joslynn, I bought it from the Chanel boutique in US. The retail price in US is much cheaper than in Aus, but you have to pay around 10% tax and 3% currency conversion fee, so it ends up a couple of hundred dollars cheaper.

Petrina March 7, 2012 at 4:44 am

Lovely bag! I like bags with a worn in look with min fuss too 🙂 looking forward to a new “What’s in my bag” post with your new bag!

What a beauty!

Katalin March 10, 2012 at 11:01 pm

I love the fact that you had a plan of the type of bag you like to buy. I fall in love so easily and ending up buying purses that I will hardly use afterwards. But this one is a beauty. Enjoy (and more photos of you wearing it!) 🙂

Reika March 11, 2012 at 1:26 pm

Lol I had a lot of impulse purchases in the past, but I think I’m getting much better lately 🙂

Selviah March 15, 2012 at 3:04 am
