Lunasol Aurorized Eyes in 05 Contrast Variation Review and FOTD

August 21, 2011

One of my lovely readers at phbr.tumblr asked me if I could do an EOTD and FOTD with the Lunasol Aurorized Eyes. She was one of the first people who found my blog and it just means so much to me that I still have readers from the beginning! Lunasol is known for their eyeshadow palettes and quints – they carry many lines in different themes. One of my favorites is the Contrast Variation quints from the Aurorized Eyes Line.

lunasol-aurorized-eyes-05-contrast-variation-1The quints are a pleasure to play with – one of the best amongst my Lunasol collection.  The darker colors are rich with a satiny sheen, the glitters you see in the pan do not show up on the eyes.  The two lighter colors (the one in the middle and the one on the bottom left) are all flesh toned in Lunasol’s signature wet sparkly finish.  Once they are blended out the difference between these two shades is small, although the center shade is more sparkly. All shadows apply silky and buttery smooth with no fallouts.

EOTD:

Upper: Applied the top right shade all over the eye socket area then layered the top left shade along the lash line. As usual I like to apply the darkest shade, which is the purple navy shade on the bottom right on the outer V.

Lower: Applied the bottom left shade along the lash line, the middle shade was added on the tear duct area and the top left shade was used on the outer third of the lash line.

Pretty! So pretty! I really have my heart set on getting some Lunasol palettes. As the summer goes on, I’m getting more and more tan, and my neutral eyeshadows just don’t have enough variance anymore!

Glad you like it :-) I can imagine that this palette will work even better on tanned skin!

You look stunning :) the eye colors are so wearable and nice. I love Lunasol eye shadows, they always have a nice sheen without being chalky. You look gorgeous :D

Agree, there is a reason why Lunasol is the best seller of eyeshadow in Japan every year!
Thanks :)

This looks like a very wearable Lunasol palette unlike some of their other palettes they have launched. The blue/grey shade pairs very nicely with the brown shades. BTW, what are you wearing on your lips?

Haha..agree I love collecting lunasol palettes but I have to skip the ones with all the pastel shades..they are just not for me.
I wore Nars Velvet Gloss pencil in Hopi on my lips:-)

Do you have your Princess Lee lashes on? They look stunning!

Yes the lashes are Princecc Lee criss cross 7!! Have you tried them yet?

mulberrytea August 23, 2011 at 1:18 pm

Not yet! I haven’t looked into ordering them online since I don’t usually have any occasion to wear falsies. But hopefully, soon :) Definitely will look for the criss cross 7 since they look amazing!

The FOTD you’ve created is a lovely study in peaches ‘n cream. Lunasol’s addition of navy to the palette is a stroke of color genius because it lends contrast and prevents the finished eye look from being one dimensional. You’ve really worked the palette beautifully to enhance the colors in your lens. You’ve got an artist’s eye :-)

hi, i just discovered your blog via The Beauty Look Book. I’ve never heard of this brand but I want this palette! Where can those of us in the USA buy it?

Jess August 25, 2011 at 1:08 am

I have heard great things about the Lunasol Aurorized Eyes, but weirdly I have not picked one up yet, even though I’m a big fan of Lunasol Makeup.

The colors look super flattering on you, and I just love how you blended the shadows! Also, your lashes make me jealous! :p

Annie September 7, 2011 at 2:19 am

They looked so naturally sparkling on your eyes :) do you have any shop recommendations? But I need the strength too. Are those daily ones? Sorry to ask so many questions but I always adore the beauty and how selective Japanese people are for great products, specially the magazines are awesome! :)

Reika-san,

I somehow got really confused with all the Neo models..(@__@) They really got many selections. Would you mind directing me to a reliable source/shop ? And were these the Neo 4 Queen ones? :/

Reika September 26, 2011 at 1:54 pm

Hi Annie, yes they can be a little confusing! You can get the Neo 4 tone series from EyeCandyLens:

Looks like the blue one is out of stock though..

Just FIY, the neo 3 tone series (also called glamour series) is also beautiful. It is quite similar to the 4 tone but more natural and not as bright as the 4 tone series.
