FOTD – Hot Pink Lips

January 21, 2012

Once in a blue moon I am 90% happy with my hair, and unexpectedly, it happened today! So I wanted to take the opportunity to post a FOTD wearing hot pink lips, which is what I am obsessed with at the moment. It is just as bold as red lips but much easier to pull it off on a daily basis. I can wear this look out in the day without feeling “too much”…As for the eyes, I went for my favorite taupe shade, the slight purple undertone of taupe complements the hot pink lips perfectly.

This is such a great look! I notice that you’ve dipped into the Laguna – me too! I want to get some Perfection Lumiere, but like you I’ll go with B30 because I’ll be in Muscat for a month.

You look fantastic in hot pink lips! Like you, I’m not always happy with my hair. I’m too lazy to actually use a hair dryer so on most days there is a 50/50 chance it will look wonky lol.

Fantastic look. You’ve inspired me to break out the Tweed Fushia and try it again – it’s soooo vibrant! I may use it more often now (Tweed Pink is my go-to blush and a nameless Stila fushia included in my Barbie Palette).

The same for me Amanda, Tweed pink is my go to blush as well! As for the Tweed Fushia, yes you are right – it is soooo vibrant! I like to wear it with a bronzer as it helps to neutralize the hot pink.

Lovely! I love hot pink lipsticks, but the only one I’ve so far had the guts to wear is the RA Laque in #78 Phoenix, love that one!
This Shiseido one is gorgeous, suits you! 🙂

Oh my, Reika, you look amazing! I convinced myself that I could never pull off Tweed Fuchia but boy am I regretting that decision now! 🙂

Oh, and Happy Chinese New Year to you!

Thanks Cindy! You are so sweet! Tweed Fuchia is still available in Australia, it is a little tricky to pull it off as it’s so vibrant so I don’t wear it everyday. I also find that wearing tweed fushia on slightly bronzed skin makes the pink less bright on the skin.

Hi Reika! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find you blog since it’s such a lovely and informative blog! Quick question: what are your opinions on the Laguna bronzer? I’m pretty much the same skin colour as you (NC15-20, Asian) and I’m always looking for a good contouring shade that won’t end up orangey on me. Would you recommend the Laguna bronzer or a brown blush (and any specific brands)? Thanks so much Reika!

Reply

Reika January 29, 2012 at 1:17 pm

Thanks for the sweet comment Sam! I like to use Laguna bronzer to add a bit of color and warmth to my skin, but I won’t use it for contouring as it is very pigmented so it’s not that easy to work with to create a natural contour effect. My fav shade is a light cool brown blush by MAC strada, perfect for nc15! I also like to use Bobbi brown e/s in wheat to contour the nose.
HIH!

Ahh thanks so much for the reply! I’ll definitely look into MAC Strada – I’ve heard that it’s been discontinued (eeek!!! But I’ll still check out my mac store XD) but the people on MUA have left some pretty good dupe options so hopefully I’ll find a nice contour shade 🙂 Thanks again for the advice!
