Estee Lauder Pure Color Blush Plush Petal Review and Swatches

June 6, 2012

I call this ‘The Blush of the Year’ – Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Blush in Plush Petal 14 . Isn’t it just incredibly pretty? As soon as I spotted the new collection of Pure Color Blushes at David Jones which retails for AUD$65 each , I had to have the Plush Petal. But it was all sold out so I had to back order it, and it finally arrived not long ago!

I don’t usually buy makeup from Estee Lauder, as I still relate them with granny makeup 😛 But this beautiful blush created by the legendary makeup artist Tom Pecheux really blew me away. The texture feels silky smooth and buttery soft, and the powder is densely packed so the color payoff is intense and rich. What appeals to me the most is the gradient hue that fades from a strawberry pink to to a soft hibiscus pink, which gives you a good control over the application as you can ‘fine tune’ the shade of pink that you like. When swirling together, it blends into a soft coral pink. Plush Petal has very fine shimmer that is only visible under certain lighting, and gives a satiny finish with a soft glow when applied on the skin.

Swatch of Plush Petal

estee-lauder-pure-color-blush-14-plush-petal-swatchBeing a beauty blogger I am sometimes guilty that I am not doing enough comparison swatches for my readers…It’s just that the thought of rumbling through my stash (I am a neat freak by the way) and realizing how much makeup I have really puts me off! But I am working on it, and for this post I have pulled out these pink blushes to compare that range from hot pink to cool lilac pink.

CLOCKWISE: Nars Desire, Estee Lauder Plush Petal, Shu Uemura M Pink 30 (my all time favorite pink blush), Dior Rosy Glow, Blush Horizon de Chanel, Chanel JC Narcisse

This is one of my favourite blushes.

I’m the same way! I recently got into Estee Lauder (begrudgingly, hello grandma!) because of his work with the company. The gelee eyeshadow palette which was released for the Spring Collection (I think?) is nothing short of stunning. And so unique! It’s called Bronze Sands Cyber Metallic and contains 5 shades. I learned about it on Lisa Eldridge’s channel (LOVE her!)

You have me wanting to try the blush, it’s so pretty!

I really wanted to check out the gelee eyeshadow palette, but I didn’t see it at the counter…:-(

This wasn’t even on my radar, but this is gorgeous! I love how they’ve combined a cooler pink with a strong summery pink in the same pan. what a beautifully executed idea 🙂

Hi Reika! I absolutely adore blush. Now, I am using an Estée Lauder pink/rose petal (but I guess it is from an anterior/other collection, despite having brought it a few months ago). Have to check this one out, plush petal n__n Much like yours, my skin is very bright and those soft pinks are always welcome. I like that Dior of yours very much! As you have a lot of make-up products (you lucky girl :), you must try the new blushes from Sisley. They are a bit shimmer – I don´t know if shimmer is your cup of tea -, and very pricey comparing to other high end brands, but so gorgeous, high quality and cute :). I am quite sure you will love them. Hope to hear from you soon – you’re the best. Kisses and hugs from Lisbon, Catarina Pereira

Thanks Catarina. I am a big fan of Sisley skincare which is amazing, but have yet to try their makeup line. Will keep your rec in mind and check it out later 🙂
Kudos to you xoxo

How gorgeous the gradient effect on the blush…yeah I now what you mean about Estée Lauder being an old lady brand…but they do have some outstanding products. Am currently using eye cream from them…

I definitely need to pay more attention to EL from now on!

Elaine June 10, 2012 at 10:46 am

I had been trying this out for the past week.

Love it, the color payoff is good and give me a good rosy look. 🙂

However, the only rant I have is the case. It’s so tight & pretty hard to open.

Reika June 10, 2012 at 1:38 pm

Good to know you like it 🙂
Ha I never noticed that..probably it’s because I never fully closed it…!

LOL i completely agree – I’ve always thought of EL as ‘granny’ makeup too – shame because I am sure the products are really great.
