CURE Natural Aqua Gel Review

June 2, 2012

Japanese women are famous for their love of cosmetics, so whenever I see a beauty product that has been voted number 1 in Japan, it is the best selling pitch for me. The CURE Natural Aqua Gel is one of them (one bottle is sold every 12 seconds), and I even had my readers emailing me about how much they adore this exfoliator, so when BeautyCarousel contacted me to ask if I was interested to give this product a try, of course I said yes!

It is housed in a plastic bottle, it retails for SGD$42 (Singapore dollar) for 250g of product which I consider is a very reasonable price. My skin is prone to congestion so exfoliating my skin is a core step in my skincare routine. I have tried all sorts of exfoliators before, including the conventional scrubs, micro-dermabrasions, AHA, peel etc, and I have paid exorbitant amount of price for some of them. But I have never repurchased any one them until I came across the CURE Aqua Gel which has officially ended my quest for the perfect exfoliator. The formulation is just perfect for my skin type – it is non-abrasive, doesn’t tingle my skin like glycolic acid does, effective but gentle, and it provides a sense of achievement when I can feel the dead skin coming off. Since it is so gentle I use it around my nose and chin everyday, and twice a week for my whole face and neck. The skin appears much more clear, translucent, smooth and soft without stripping its natural oil after each application.

The CURE Natural AQUA Gel has a whitish transparent gel texture, and it transforms into liquid during application. I normally use 2 pumps on my entire face and gently massage it over in circular motion. The liquid binds to the dead skin cells and after rubbing a short time both the gel and the dead skin solidify and “ball up” which feels completely satisfactory! CURE claims that 0.01mm of old skin can be removed by using this product. I can’t measure that, but it is keeping my skin noticeably smoother and refined when using it at least twice a week.

Do you have a new haircare regime or is it the same as your haircare post? Could you please do an update entry?

I honestly have wanted to try this for over a year and a half, but the price just bothers me so much. Missha makes something similar for a lesser price, but after seeing you review this, I might just push myself to test this out. Maybe it’ll be even better than the Missha one.

I saw Fuzkittie featuring this before but thought it was similar as the Ginvera Marvel Gel which seems to work similarly ( but doesn’t seem to do much for me!). Maybe with your rec I will try this now.

A bottle could last me more than 2 years, and it’s great to exfoliate dead skin cells on irritated skin. I love this as well as the Ginvera Marvel Gel.

I’ve tried this, and unfortunately I didn’t think it was that great! The product itself balls up, so it’s difficult to know whether it’s really taking dead skin with it. I did a test on the back of my hand – i rubbed the product on, got the little white balls of dead skin, and washed them away. I repeated this test over and over and over on the same patch of skin, and always got the same result – little white balls, the same amount approximately each time. I’m skeptical as to how effective an exfoliator it really is, seeing how the product itself behaves the same whether or not there is dead skin cells present to remove.

The youtube reviews drive me nuts – girls seem to think that the white balls are ALL dead skin, lol! There would be a lot of raw faces if that were the case!

I’m glad you like it, but my inner skeptic didn’t really buy it. It did make my skin feel soft, but I’m just not convinced it was due to its exfoliating properties.

Just thought I’d throw in my 2 cents! It’s quite possible that this product just isn’t for my skin type.

Elizabeth I agree that some reviews of this product are quite misleading – the ‘balls’ are caused by the gel itself when it solidifies, but since it binds to the skin it does get rid of the dead skin cell on the surface during the process.
The amount of “balls” does not equate to the amount of dead skin. My observations and conclusions are based on how smooth and clear my skin looks after the application.
Thanks for your 2 cents 🙂 Good to hear other opinions!

I use this too and love it. It really makes my face feel smooth. I really feel as though it removes dead skin, because when I use it on the dry, flaky patches of my face, more balls appear than on my forehead. The flaky patches disappear. Perhaps the balls also act as beads to stimulate the skin like a normal exfoliant? In any case, if I apply it to my skin twice, the second time there’s not as many little balls.

I tried it on my caucasian boyfriend though, and it did not work on him at all. No balls, nothing. I think it’s something to do with his hairy hands.

It should also be noted that there are fakes of this product on the market. And I’m pretty sure that it expires after six months or so? Just things to keep in mind. I’ve had mine for longer and it works just the same, though.

I have sensitive skin thus I’ve always avoided grainy scrubs. This exfoliating gel is god-send! I love how it exfoliate my skin so well that my skin feels soft and smooth and yet not too harsh.

It works the same eventhough the product name from Sulwhasoo is confusing xD the result is much more gentle and gave the perfect result!!!! I stocked this Cure and now i regret. Give Sulwhasoo brightening mask a try and im sure you will LOVE it!!!!! 😀
