Christmas is just around the corner, which means the party season is truly upon us! Are you all excited? I am, because the many “non-neutral-makeup” that I bought for special occasions are finally on high rotation of use. I attended a few parties after work last week, and I needed makeup that can transform my look from day to night within minutes. I thought I’ll give the Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Eye shadow 04 a try – I wanted this one so much until I got the Chanel Illusoire but I bought it anyway at SAKS to qualify for the gifts with purchase.
I love Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Eye shadows in general, and I have already reviewed the other shades in my previous post, so I am not going to review the quality of these eye shadows again. The shade 04 is a gorgeous taupe shade in the pan, but I am little disappointed that the color doesn’t show up on me quite the same as it appears in the pan. It pulls a little too gray with a gunmetal metallic sheen – such color can look too harsh against my complexion and I don’t feel comfortable wearing it alone. I personally prefer taupe with a brown tinge to it and that’s what this shade is missing.
Compared to Chanel Illusoire:
My Giorgio Armani ETK Eyeshadows Collection as of today:
Bottom Line: Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill 04 is a stunning color but I think it takes the right complexion to pull it off. It allows you to create a multi dimensional smoky eyes within minutes, and also serves as a good base for an even more intense and dramatic eyes. I like it but not love it. I think there are better GA ETK shades to invest in, and if I have to choose between ETK 04 and Chanel Illusoire, I would go for the Chanel.

An angelic holiday look!
I’m loving your blog at the moment Reika! The gunmetal shadows paired with the pink blush looks amazing on you.
Thank you so much Clare! You made my day
I think it looks beautiful on you! It would be so perfect on New Year’s Eve.
Lovely eyeshadows !! My all time favorite color from GA ETK is #6. By away, what blush and lipstick do u use in this post ? I love it <3
Hi Reika!
I have both the Illisoire and the ETK in 04 – I think I love both equally. I love Illusoire as a liner, which you can’t do with the ETK formula very easily, but I love the 04 more as an all over lid shade. I only have the one ETK (they’re almost $50 each with tax in Canada – CRAZY for one shadow!) and I’m happy with the shade I picked, although I’d love more. I always get a lot of compliments on it!
I don’t think you realize how gorgeous it is on your brown eyes (mine are more blue-green) – that really is a stunning look for you with the pink lip! Maybe you could work in a brown/taupe colour at the outer edges to bring it more into your comfort zone? Either way, thanks for sharing!
Interesting! Thanks for letting me know that you are using Illusoire as a liner, it had never occurred to me as I thought it would be too sheer! So are you also using the enclosed brush to line your eyes?
The ETKs retail for $50 AUD in Australia as well, so not any better than Canada! We should all move to US
Yes, I use the brush it came with. I really like it, it’s just stiff enough to give good control, and the unique rounded of shape makes application smooth, as well as easier for me to do my usual flick at the outer corner. Illusoire makes a really beautiful liner for day, subtle but definitely not too sheer (at least for me) and for night, Mirifique is an absolutely stunning liner! It’s rare to find a black shadow with visible shimmer, usually shimmer gets dulled in a black shadow product.
What a lovely look, the shades go so well together, I love the cheek colour, its such a fresh looking shade of pink.
The silvery blue really suits you. I agree it takes the right complexion to pull it off and I think it pulls too cool on my medium skintone.
I prefer brownish taupe shades as well! Nevertheless, I think the Armani ETK 04 looks really nice on you. It creates a modern and edgy kind of look, which is great for night time!
Love the combo with the soft pink blush and lips. What are you using there?
Thanks Jess. I had Chanel tweed blush pink and the Shu Uemura lipstick PK 340 layered with Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in56 Imaginaire.
what a beautiful look! you look so fresh!
i like how the eye shadow goes well with blush color! by the way, what other things did you use for this look?
Thanks Maria. I had Chanel tweed blush pink and the Shu Uemura lipstick PK 340 layered with Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in56 Imaginaire on my lips.
You look amazing girl, definitely going to be the most elegant and polish one at the xmas party
This is such a stunning look on you, absolutely beautiful and perfect for Christmas!
You look absolutely amazing. I love the gunmetal shade! Fabulous! You are so gorgeous
I agree that when swatched/applied on the lids, the color leans more metallic than the other swatches I’ve seen online. Have you tried using a damp brush? It takes most of the shimmers away, and I’ve stick with it ever since.
Nevertheless, it looks great on you, and during this festive season! Glad to know you’re back home, safe and happy! Judging from your entry, it was quite a fruitful trip, eh? =)
I can’t get over your blending skills and mascara. What are you using?
