Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow HARMONIE DU SOIR Review and FOTD

October 30, 2012

As promised, this is a FOTD post wearing the Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow HARMONIE DU SOIR from the 2012 Holiday Collection. This quad is beyond my expectations, as I have to admit I thought the overall mulberry tone of this quad could be a little tricky to pull off for someone like me who is used to the earthy neutral shades. And to my pleasant surprise, Harmonie Du Soir is just simply stunning and easy to wear. The four shades look complementary when blended on the lid (for swatches please refer to this post). I especially love the effect when the taupe is blended with the reddish burgundy shade as it creates a beautiful sultry plummy color without looking too warm. The final look is very autumy and goes particularly well with vampy lip color.

Upper Lid:

Wearing the light gold shade all over the eye lid up to the brows, then applied the taupe shade over the eye socket area. The shimmery pale pink shade is used to blend out the harsh edge. Lastly the burgundy shade is applied along the lash line and blended into the taupe.

Lower Lid:

The pale pink is added on the inner corner and the burgundy is applied at the outer third.

Face: Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer (reviewed here)

Blush: Les Tendres De Chanel in Les Roses (reviewed here)

Lips: Tom Ford Black Orchid as a very light stain (review coming soon!)

Bottom Line: A stunning, unique and classic eye shadow quad for the fall and festive season! I actually prefer this over the Topkapi Quad from the Byzance de Chanel collection. Harmonie Du Soir is now available online here!

The Tom Ford lipstick looks gorgeous! It was the first thing I noticed. The palette is gorgeous too. The whole look is lovely on you! x

Oh my god, this is the best FOTD I have seen from you. I was thinking your look feature the latest Chanel highlighter was drop dead gorgeous. This is even more stunning!

Reika October 31, 2012 at 12:11 pm

Aww..thank you so much Iris. You are so kind 🙂 Chanel makeup is magic!

argh! I am lemming tom ford black orchid so bad! I bet black orchid looks great as blush as well (maybe mixed with a bit of vaseline for extra glow). I am still undecided about the chanel quad, it looks so pretty on you, I wonder if the colours would look just as nice on my skintone 🙁 I really like your blush placement, I apply mine on the apples of the cheeks most of the time as well.

Reika October 31, 2012 at 12:01 pm

omg Claire you are such a genius! I never thought about wearing the BO as a blush..what a brilliant idea and I’m going try it out right now!
You should get’s the most beautiful vampy lipstick out there!

Claire November 1, 2012 at 6:36 pm

Oh please report back what you think of it! I use lipsticks as blush kinda often (I guess, I ma bored or something, lol), when the texture is too dry I mix it with vaseline and it makes the most beautiful base ever! I guess I should get it, I can’t resist when there’s a colour like Black Orchid.

You look stunning as usual!! I prefer Topkapi over this one, but maybe its just my preference for browns and neutrals 🙂

Reika October 31, 2012 at 12:04 pm

I think most people would prefer Topkapi as it’s such an easy palette to wear. I have so many brown neutral eyeshadows so it’s refreshing to play with something different 🙂

oh WOW this looks absolutely amazing!! Looking at previous swatches and online promo pictures I was originally kind of “ehhh” about the quad but after seeing this EOTD I’m really really tempted now 😉 I really love the whole look though – plummy shimmery eyes, glowy skin, soft blush, and an awesome glossy vampy lip stain = <3

Reika October 31, 2012 at 12:05 pm

Thank you. I am also quite surprised at how beautiful they transform to the eyes as the eye shadows can look a little intimidating from the pans 🙂

petrina October 31, 2012 at 12:42 pm

This quad looks stunning on you! I passed as I was unsure of the red toned shades but on you it is spectacular!

Memoiselle October 31, 2012 at 1:47 pm

I love this one too! The formula is flawless 🙂 Your FOTD looks awesome! You pull those colors very well!

Dixie Thomson November 3, 2012 at 3:35 am

WOW!! You are always so gorgeous in your FOTD posts, but this really tops them all. I LOVE everything about this. The eye shadow, the blush, the lips. Perfection. 🙂

Reika November 4, 2012 at 1:46 pm

Aww..thank you so much for your kind comment 🙂 It is indeed a gorgeous e/s palette!

Stefanie November 7, 2012 at 12:55 am

Hi Reika, the colours look so lovely on you. The black orchid pairs really well with it. May I ask if you ordered your palette from Nordstrom? I am also in Australia, but it says that it cannot be shipped to international addresses on the website. Do you know if it will be available here? Thank you!

Reika November 7, 2012 at 12:19 pm

Hi Stefanie this new collection is available at Chanel makeup counters nation wide! I bought this quad in Australia for around $95.
