Chanel Morning Rose Swatch

May 27, 2011

Chanel Le Vernis in Morning Rose from the Summer 2011 Collection is definitely not an ordinary pink once you have it on your nails. It is a universally flattering pink shade with beautiful gold shimmers that would look nice on any skintone.

Swatch of Chanel Morning Rose – Unlike any other Chanel nail polishes I own, what you see in the bottle is what you see on your nails, the gold shimmers in Morning Rose are noticeable under any lighting. The formulation  is a little bit on the sheer side but it is very smooth and streak free to apply and to layer.  It is swatched with 3 thin coats.

The good news is..I have found a cheap dupe in my collection! It is the China Glaze in 77004 IV – one of my all time favorite pink nail polish.

As you can see, the pink tone is very similar, the only difference is the China Glaze has a cream finish without any shimmers.

I like Chanel much better, but you can always get the same effect with ChG by layering a sparkle top coat over. Thanks for sharing the dupe!

Ooh such gorgeous pinks, I’ve yet to splurge on a Chanel polish just yet, thanks for the comparison of the two :)

Morning Rose is such a beautiful color. I tried Mimosa in store as well but I feel that it’s a bit too temperamental to apply.

Do you use a lip bush btw? I’m on the search for one but I actually dislike retractable brushes which seems to be what most makeup brands are putting out right now. I did try using the Chanel Lip Brush #15 and it was wonderful for applying lipstick, but at 28.00 I’m going to have to look around more before I make a final decision. It felt so luxe to use though and the weight feels really nice in your hand.

Hi Audrey, I have a makeup for ever lip brush (non retractable) and a Stila retractable lip brush. I don’t reach for them often as I only use a lip brush for applying red lipsticks. Between the two I would say I prefer MUFE lip brush, it gives a better application.
I haven’t tried the Chanel one..but I know what you mean, I like brushes with a bit of weight :-)

Love the color! The gold sparkles makes it very unique. How much to Chanel nail polishes cost in Australia? Is it only available at David Jones/Myer?

Oops I always tend to forget to post the price :P
It retails for $39 in Australia..very overpriced here! :( Other than Myer and DJ, there is a few stand alone Chanel makeup studios in Westfields – I tend to shop there because they have more LE stuff.

I prefer the China Glaze without the shimmer! Love when that happens!!

Haha who doesn’t?! China Glaze formulation is just as good as Chanel’s :-)

I was about to splurge on the Chanel Morning Rose but held myself in check long enough to look for dupes. And they’re exactly the same, just no micro glitter. Like a PP said, the effect can easily be achieved by layering a sparse coat of gold shimmer. Thanks so much for the comparison! I’m going to get the ChG one. :)

No worries Annette. Good luck on finding ChG :)

Think I prefer Morning Rose, but I find Chanel polishes to be so weak, they chip at any opportunity and take so long to dry. This is such a beautiful shade against your skin tone though, I may have to indulge!

Thank Holly. It’s interesting to hear how different brands of polishes react on different people.
Chanel polishes never chip on me for at least a week!

Thanks for sharing! I ‘discovered’ the morning rose shade just last week at Myer CBD (havn’t gone shopping for a while haha), but it was sold out! Luckily they said more stocks are coming and I put my name down on the waiting list. It looks stunning with your skin tone and nicely shaped nails~~

Regarding Holly Arabella’s comment above, I found the Chanel nail polish is very long lasting on me, and dries very quickly on my nails, compared to the other brands… Guess everyone’s experience is different!

I am with you, its been about 10 days since I had morning rose on, and it still hasn’t chipped at all!
