Chanel Fall Makeup FOTD

August 12, 2011

Just a quick FOTD wearing mostly Chanel Fall makeup. I have to say, I am deeply in love with the Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadows as they have surpassed my expectations. As much as I still love my Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill, I think the Chanels are more wearable as they can apply sheer in a translucent shimmery finish which is more daytime appropriate. The Chanel Joues Contraste Rose Ecrin is also my favorite go to blush for now – I have been using it almost everyday, the neutral pink complements any eye makeup looks.

A breakdown of the makeup I used:

I primed my face with Chanel Base Lumiere underneath the Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation. Applied the corrector under the eyes to conceal and highlight, and J/C Rose Ecrin blush was applied along the apples of the cheeks.

It was the most simple eye makeup I have ever done. Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Illusoire was the only eyeshadow I used as I didn’t want other products to take its attention away. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to fully capture the beautiful purple sparkles on the eyes as the photos were taken on a gloomy and cloudy day hence the dull lighting…I then applied a pair of natural falsies and lined my eyes with Dolly Wink eyeliner.  Shiseido Perfect Mascara was applied on my lower lashes (btw so far its not that perfect).

Lipstick was by Chanel Aqualumiere in Maya (one of my last few Aqualumiere backups…), layered with Levres Scintillantes Glossimer in Pampille.

Hope you all had a chance to check out the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadows – there are so many goregous shades to choose from and they are quick to apply and stay put all day long without creasing. Highly recommended!

Just a quick note:

I have been MIA a little this week haven’t I? I have been flat out this week and this morning I woke up with severe swelling around the eyes after using an eyelash growth product…so please excuse me if I haven’t responded to your questions via emails or comments…will get to them soon 🙂

Thanks so much for posting this pretty look! I simply can’t wait for the Illusion d’Ombres to hit counters in Canada (I hate being behind!) I have Illusoire on hold, and after seeing this look I’m inspired to do a similar look. I love the simplicity! I think this eye look with Espiegle JC and my Chintz RC would make for a fresh look.

Out of curiosity, what colour in Vitalumiere Aqua are you? I love this foundation, I was matched to BR10 (I’m quite fair), however I was never able to compare to B10, as it’s not a colour offered in Canada for some odd reason.

I am B10! I have tried both B10 and BR10 on…as far as I can remember, the difference was that B10 has a beige undertone whereas BR10 has a pink undertone.

So glad to see you loving the Chanel cream eyeshadow. I have both the Chanel and the GA, and I frankly prefer the Chanel as well, but the overall chatter comparison is giving the edge to the GA. I love both, but agree the Chanel is more wearable.

Glad to hear that Sue! They are both equally good but I just know I will reach for the Chanel more 🙂

U look lovely as always!

How’s the Chanel Base Lumiere? Is it worth it?

It is a good primer but I probably won’t repurchase it 😛

I’m now totally sold– I shall be getting the Illusion d’Ombre tomorrow as I’m headed to Neiman Marcus anyway.

I’m so sorry to hear what happened! I know exactly what product you’re talking about, and I’m sorry you are having a bad experience. I hope you get better soon!

P.S. I second the above question– what shade are you in the Vitalumiere Aqua?

Just keep in mind that Rose Ecrin is LE!

I live in the United States, so perhaps this news item is limited to this territory: I have heard that Rose Ecrin will be a permanent addition to the Chanel line. Shortly after its debut, I bought Rose Ecrin and it’s definitely a staple for gals with a light to medium complexion (NC10-30). It’s definitely worth treating yourself to this colour.

You are sooo pretty!!

The D’Ombre Illusoire looks so good on its own. And I need to get me that Chanel blush, its such a pretty neutral soft pink.

Oh no, I hope the swelling around your eyes gets better Rei – take care xo

As always just beautiful! ^_^ Even though it’s a simple look, it still looks elegant and I can see this as an evening look as well! Gorgeous!

Also I feel your pain when you said you had a reaction to the eyelash growth stuff 🙁 There are certain mascaras that irritate my eyes, makes them swollen and itchy!! So it’s difficult when I want to try something new, never know how it will react :-/ but I hope your eyes will heal and that it will only be temporary! Take care 🙂

Thank you so much Krystal! For some reasons my eyes are becoming more and more sensitive..:( Lately they get irritated easily, maybe I should stop wearing eye makeup for a while..How is that possible though??!

You make Illusion D’Ombre sound so effortless. Everyone compares them to the Armani Eyes to Kill and prefer those than the Chanel’s but I think you have made a good point. It can be applied as a light wash of color but at the same time buildable. I swatched it on my hand before and didn’t love it that much but now I am considering re-looking at them. You look is simple yet sophisticated!

Thanks Winnie! Rather than using your fingers, you should try to swatch them using the enclosed brushes, it makes a huge difference!

Gorgeous look, I don’t own any Chanel products but I’d love to try some of that eyeshadow, I love cream eyeshadows and people can’t seem to rave enough about chanel foundations.

Illusoire looks amazing on you! How do you apply is do you use the applicator supplied or a another brush and do you put it on wet or dry?
