Chanel Bombay Express Makeup 2012 Collection Swatch Revisited

June 29, 2012

Hi everyone, I did a brief preview of the Chanel Bombay Express Makeup Collection about a week ago. And I felt my pictures did not  do much justice for the collection, as they were all placed inside a glass box at a dark corner so there wasn’t enough light. Anyhow as I was doing my random Friday night shopping today, the testers of Chanel Le Vernis DIWALI and Des Indes De Chanel Illuminating Powder were out. If I have ever stupidly said I did not like the look of Chanel Le Vernis DIWALI in my previews post, then I take my words back! It is absolutely gorgeous!!I thought the color still looks quite gold from the bottle, but when swatched on the nails, it shows up as a beautiful gold and silver duo chrome with a beige undertone. It is totally to die for, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it when it is on sale!

My nails were painted with Chanel Morning Rose, so I had to swatch DIWALI on my friend 🙂

2 coats of Chanel Le Vernis DIWALI

What do you think girls? Will this change your mind?

Dang, every review I’ve read says that the highlighter is just a LITTLE too gold to be used in the daytime…I hope Chanel comes out with a more subtle version eventually!

Both are gorgeous, Reika. I have to agree with you about the Route Des Indes De Chanel Illuminating Powder- it is too gold for my complexion as well. A pity– it is lovely!

This was such a disappointment. The promo picture makes Route Des Indes look lighter and less metallic–more like Lumière Sculptée from last year. In real life, it’s a beauty, but too strong a gold for my fair complexion even as an evening highlighter. Actually, the entire collection disappointed me because the colors in the promo pictures were so far off from the real colors. I’m sure there are women on whom this collection will look stunning, but I’m not one of them 🙁

Yes Eileen I had very high hope on this collection, and it’s disappointing to find out the highly anticipated products don’t work for our complexions!
Just wondering what do you think of the beige illuminating powder from Les Essentials de Chanel..I am still on the fence about it…

I actually did buy Lumière D’Artifices Beiges. It is like a lighter, sheerer version of this summer’s Sable Beige. Sabrina (The Beauty Look Book) has some excellent comparison swatches so you can see for yourself. I’m NC15 and on me it gives a lovely glow and a hint of color. It can easily work as an all-over luminizer, a classic highlighter or even as a very light bronzer on light complexions. I like to use it as a highloghter with a pop of Fleur de Lotus or Rose Initiel on the cheeks.

I’d say of the two highlighters that LDAB is a daily workhorse whereas RDI is special effects. By the way, once the overspray is removed, LDAB positively glows without sparkling or looking metallic. It’s like Météorites in that respect.

I have the illuminating powder, and I find it to wear nicely with my medium skin tone. I do have to refrain from packing it on, because it’s just so pretty.

Congrats Lys. I agree with you, the illuminating powder will work so beautifully on some skin tones!

The nail polish looks gorgeous! I’ve always wanted to try them, but they are so overpriced in Australia. 🙁
