Chanel Bombay Express Makeup 2012 Collection Preview

June 20, 2012

The Chanel Bombay Express Makeup 2012 Collection is on display in Sydney now, and they will be on sale from the start of July. I took some iphone pictures for you (please excuse the quality). For those of you who have seen the promo picture, the Chanel le Vernis DIWALI looks nothing like it in real life.

This picture is taken with flash, so it looks more sparkly and glittery than in real life.Route-Des-Indes-De-Chanel-Illumating-powder-with-shimmer

The highlighter is gorgeous, but I think I will give it a pass as I am not a gold highlighter person. And it looks similar to the Chane JC in OR from the Byzance Collection.

I was looking forward to Le Vernis DIWALI the most, however after seeing it in person my gut feeling tells me that it will pull too muddy on me. So I might take this off my shopping list as well. (Yay for my wallet!).

So what do you think? Is there anything in particular you have set your eyes on?!

Oh, the highlighter is so beautiful, but I doubt it would work for me. Might have to pop in and swatch it anyway.

Did they have the Illusion d’Ombre in Nirvana on show, or are we not getting that in Oz?

I didn’t see Nirvana in the display..so I don’t think we are getting it in OZ.

Thank you Reika for sharing this! I must say I’m quite dissapointed to see the highlighter in your photo as compared to the promo picture… I was planning to get it. =P And I was thinking to definitely get the Diwali nail polish as well after seeing those model photos… Oh well, save money I guess. =P

The highlighter and the polish both do not look like the promotional pictures. How disappointing!

Thanks for posting this, Reika. I agree that the highlighter and polish looked promising in promo shoots, but in life they are far too yellow for me to pull off. In the advertisements, they come across as more beige, with balanced pink and yellow undertones. I can imagine some people being able to pull off these colours really well, particularly those with darker complexions. I like Empreinte, but I already picked it up when it launched in the U.S. in April.

I agree with Diezluna. This collection just isn’t calling to me. There is so much still to come, though. Here in California, the fall Les Essentiels collection is beginning to hit counters and we’ll finally be getting the Fleur de Lotus Le Blanc collection in July during Nordstrom’s anniversary sale. After seeing both the Bombay Express and Blue Illusion collections, I decided to save my money for Fleur de Lotus and Les Essentiels which are more in keeping with my esthetic.

I am living in Germany and after seeing this discussion, I thought I should chime in. I have Diwali on my nails now and it is nothing like gold. I wore it today at work, it is a champagne color almost like a gold/silver duo-chrome. I also bought the highlighter. It is a light gold highlighter and when used at just a few places, it looks gorgeous and very natural on my Chanel B30 skin. So for the ones who pass on those only seeing those pictures, I recommend you to take a look at it yourselves.

Hi Sarah, thanks for the insight, highly appreciate that and I am really glad to hear you love the collection :-)
I will definitely take a second look at Diwali, I hope it will show up as gold/silver against my skintone as well!
