Chanel 2012 Holiday Makeup Collection – Eclats du Soir de Chanel Initial Review and Swatches

by Reika on October 15, 2012

The highly anticipated Chanel 2012 Holiday Makeup Collection – Eclats du Soir de Chanel has hit our shore today. The collection is not on display yet but they are available upon request. I picked up two products on the way home and here is a sneak preview of what I bought and my first initial thoughts.

Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow HARMONIE DU SOIR (retails for AUD$98) – Both the design and the texture of HARMONIE DU SOIR are successfully inherited from the Topkapi Quadra Eye shadow from the Byzance de Chanel collection. Each eye shadow feels noticeably more buttery soft and smoother than the regular line, and all are highly pigmented. I haven’t had a chance to wear them yet, and I’m curious to see how the darkest reddish mulberry shade paired with the pale pink will look on me. Check out Makeup Magpie’s review here.

Thank you :-)
Do you mean the upper line or the lower line? I normally just use a liquid liner (my current favorite is the Kate Sharp liquid eyeliner) for the upper line, and smudge any dark eye shadow I can find for the lower line – nothing fancy..:-P

heehee i was wondering about both upper and lower line. do you also use liq liner for upper waterline too? i am currently using those jap liq liners too. but was asking if you happen to be using a good pencil for upper waterline instead that i can , which by far tend to smudge on me always.

Wow..you are fast!! I know, how good it is to get things from pre-sale!
Do you like the blush? I gave it a pass as it looked very sheer and glittery…

The blush is very sparkly indeed! I don’t have anything quite this “festive” in my collection so I’m happy to own it :D I think it goes superbly with a vampy lip too

You should! The e/s palette is to die for – they feel so creamy and the color palette is very on trend and goes well with a vampy/plummy lip color :-)

I was going to pick up the palette as well but not sure of the pinky tones on eyes – generally my eyes do not take well to pinky n reddish tones. Can’t wait to see a eotd with this palette!

The eye palette is a must have I think! I can’t wait to get my hands on them. I missed Chanel Topkapi before and I would not want to miss this one again. The color pigmentation looks amazing :D
